Joel Kaplan is a 32 year old entrupeuner regarded by many as the goat of smma. He has almost for sure ended up in your tiktok FYP lately. He posts frequently about tips and tricks on making money and now has a massive following of 2m across IG, TikTok and YouTube .
According himself he makes $1million a month as of January 2024, this income comes from 5 different business who helps with marketing. One of the business was making him $600-$700k a month. Instead of scaling by making the most out of that business he instead started marketing for 4 other companies, adding the additional $400k.
Iman vs Joel Kaplan
Iman Ghadzhi came to the realisation that helping companies market is no where near as profitable helping desperate young men try to become rich. The fact that Joel still runs agencies that already gives him a leg up. But was his peak higher than Iman’s?
Yes, Iman closed his agency whilst it had a supposed valution of $10mil. Doesn’t really makes sense to close it down if it was supposedly making you so much money.
Lastly who is a better mentor/coach? Iman had a rough upbringing and rose to success relatively quickly, he has more mainstream success and rubs shoulders with more popular influencers. He mentions alot more life advice and views success as being well rounded instead of just being rich.
Joel is very one dimentional in his content, mainly focuses on SMMA. He’s courses and content is not marketed or presented as flashy as Iman’s. The course is not as concise and can easily lose concentration. He makes to many false promises by “guaranteeing” clients, but for due to him having coaching that is available he has a slight leg up.
Joel is a better SMMA guru, but Iman is a better content creator. Iman fits in the mold of a new age “Alpha Male” rather than a SMMA guru. Therefore Joel has the edge.
Is Joel trust worthy
Thanks to andrew tate making money online and escaping the matrix has hit a massive bomb. Therefore creators with a personal brand revolved around making money hit a large bomb. Smma is one of the popular ways people chose to make money(Shoutout to Iman ghadzi).
He capatilzed this by making a course, both for free and paid for. He supposedly helped over 190 agency owners. He does seems genuine about his succes and does make helpful content. Joel makes sure to tell you that this is a serious business and should be treated as such. Although results can come by very fast it’s no get rich quick. He also mentions results will be slow if don’t use money for paid advertising or hiring to contact leads.
This shows character especially because SMMA is makreted by gurus as a model that can make you millions with zero dollars invested at the beginng. Thats not a lie but unrealstic for good results in a reasonable amount of tme.
Can I be successful like Joel Kaplan?
You “can” but you probably won’t. If you don’t have an unfair advantage , money or burning desire for SMMA he is probably leading you a stray. Here is why
Pros
You can leverage the global marketplace by hiring somoene else to the job for cheaper via fiverr or upwork AKA arbitrage.
It teaches you the ability to sell yourself and services, which can be used esle where in life
You don’t need money to start out simply time
Cons
A majority Local business owners will not undertsand or care about the value of online marketing. Reaching to ones online can but will be relucant to recruit just anyone.
It is extremly competitve due to it’s rise in popularity
Scaling is difficult compared to other business models due to the time and attention you give to a company. Yes you can outsource the work load but then you need to make sure the people you hire are still doing a decent job.

There is no one way to run an agency, therefore labelling the whole business model is tough.
SMMA is a good business model, however it is not a genius one. Iman Ghadzi closed down he’s agency to A build a personal brand then B sell them info products.
You can do the same without creating a personal brand but levarging paid advertising. Learn how we made $17k selling AI prompts.
